Myths About "Breathing" Buildings and How It Really Works

In the past few weeks, we've received many similar questions about our buildings and the issues people are facing with competing mobile homes. Customers are asking about cold floors, moisture problems, and the overall quality of living, especially during the winter months. The question of whether our buildings "breathe" is also frequently raised, which stems from myths circulating among people.

Buildings That "Breathe": Myth or Reality?

In construction, the term "breathing buildings" is often misused. No building literally breathes – this is just a layman's term. In reality, buildings can be either vapour-permeable or vapour-impermeable. Those who talk about buildings that breathe usually refer to vapour-permeable structures, which allow water vapour to pass through the walls.

It is often claimed that vapour-permeable buildings are better because they prevent moisture build-up. However, the truth is that neither type of construction is inherently better. Both solutions – vapour-permeable and vapour-impermeable – are suitable if properly implemented. Problems arise when a vapour-permeable building is not of sufficient quality, allowing moisture to penetrate materials like mineral wool, which then cannot dissipate the moisture, leading to mould.

Our Solution: Vapour-Impermeable Buildings

Our buildings are vapour-impermeable, meaning that water vapour does not pass through the walls. Combined with proper ventilation and the absence of thermal bridges, this ensures that no condensation, moisture, or mould forms inside the building. This system makes our houses not only comfortable but also hygienic, which is essential for healthy living.

Eliminating Cold From the Floor

One of the most common problems with standard mobile homes is cold seeping up from the floor. This happens primarily due to insufficient insulation or poorly designed floor structures. However, our floors are fully insulated with no thermal bridges and also include a 13 cm air gap, which serves as an additional insulator. This system guarantees that you won't feel cold from the floor in our buildings.

Why Our Buildings Are the Better Choice?

Unlike competing mobile homes, which often suffer from thermal bridges, moisture, and cold, our buildings are designed as modular prefabricated homes with a high technological standard. These are not cheap solutions for short-term living – our homes meet strict building standards that allow you to classify them as conventional family homes. Additionally, thanks to our technology, our buildings have a lifespan of over 100 years and are virtually maintenance-free.
